Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully. Failure to abide by this binding contract could result in account suspension or claim of damages from StreamBit.

General Terms

StreamBit reserves the right to terminate or dismiss any channel for any reason it deems necessary. You have the right to an appeals process. Maximum suspension lengths are 1 year for non "Outlawed" rule breaks.

Who can use StreamBit

You must be at least 13 to create an account, and we ask for your date of birth when you do. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission to use StreamBit. Your date of birth decides whether you can see 18+ content, so it can't be changed once saved; contact us if it's wrong. Giving a false date of birth breaks these terms and can lead to your account being suspended.

Content tiers

Every channel, video and broadcast on StreamBit carries an age rating. Rating your content accurately is your responsibility as a creator. The following tiers define what is and is not permitted, and what each rating allows.

Outlawed — strictly prohibited

  • Death / Gore
  • Pornography
  • Content which you do not own the copyright for
  • Any content which will harm or endanger StreamBit from operating as a platform
  • Any acts which break the law in the host country where the media was produced or recorded

18+ — age-restricted content

This content must be rated 18+ and must be legal in your area. Only adults who have chosen to see 18+ content can find or watch it.

  • Drug-related content
  • Revealing attire, provided relevant areas are covered
  • Gambling, including video game gambling such as loot box content (must not make up the majority of stream time)

Teen (13+)

Swearing and mild themes are permitted. Teen content is shown to everyone, so nothing in the 18+ list belongs here. New channels and videos start as Teen.

Kids (all ages)

Content in this category must be suitable for young children: no swearing, no frightening or violent scenes, and nothing that encourages dangerous behaviour.

How age ratings work

Creators rate their content in Studio:

  • Your channel has a rating. It rates your live broadcasts, and none of your videos can be rated lower. Rating your channel 18+ makes everything on it 18+.
  • Each video is rated when you upload it, starting from your channel's rating. You can rate a video higher than your channel, never lower.
  • Each broadcast keeps the rating your channel had when it went live, and so does its recording. Change your channel's rating before going live if a stream needs a different one.
  • Scheduled streams carry a rating too, so an 18+ stream is never advertised to people who can't watch it.
  • Only creators aged 18 or over can rate content 18+.

What you see depends on who you are, at any time of day:

  • Signed out, or under 18: 18+ channels and videos are hidden everywhere: home, browse, search, categories, games, the live directory, recommendations, feeds, chat and notifications. A direct link shows an age-restriction notice instead.
  • Signed in and 18 or over: 18+ content stays hidden until you switch on Show 18+ content in your settings. You can switch it off again at any time.
  • Kids and Teen content is shown to everyone.

If something is rated wrongly, report it and choose Wrong age rating. We can re-rate content ourselves. Repeatedly mis-rating content breaks these terms and can lead to your content being removed or your channel being suspended.

Keeping everyone safe

StreamBit is a UK platform and is subject to the Online Safety Act 2023 and Ofcom's codes of practice under it. To protect our users, and children in particular, we provide these controls:

  1. A minimum age of 13, with a date of birth asked for at sign-up.
  2. An age rating on every channel, video, broadcast and scheduled stream.
  3. 18+ content hidden by default from everyone, and never shown to anyone signed out or under 18.
  4. An age-restriction notice in place of 18+ content reached by a direct link.
  5. 18+ content kept out of feeds, search engine listings and notifications for anyone who can't see it.
  6. A report option on every video, comment, community post, chat message and channel, including Wrong age rating.
  7. A person reviews every report, with reports of possible harm to someone, including a child, handled first.
  8. Content that breaks the rules can be re-rated, taken down or the channel suspended. The owner gets the reasons and can appeal.
  9. Chat tools for creators and their moderators: blocked words, slow mode, followers-only chat, message deletion, timeouts and bans.
  10. A legal notice form for reporting illegal content and copyright infringement.

Changes to these terms

StreamBit reserves the right to update these Terms of Service at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
